Carbon Footprint and Transportation, Energy Consumption, Labor Practices, Resource and Waste Management, Local Economy Development and Community Impact, Product Life Cycle and Quality, Value Chain, and Environmental Impact. Among others.

Europe’s stringent environmental regulations and advanced waste management practices are the bedrock of our eco-efficiency practice, supporting RO1 chair regenerative development.

  • Engraved with a secured serial number, each RO1 Chair is as individual as the story it tells. This number signifies value and authenticity, ensuring that every chair is not just a piece of furniture but a part of a regenerative attitude crafted with care and purpose.

The serial number ensures our customers purchase a unique and genuine RO1 chair.

  • Timeless objects create long-term viability. We used engineering and design to simplify a neutral and crafted chair to the maximum without trendy features that become outdated and quickly replaced.

We endeavored to create long-lasting objects that would be a resource at the end of their lives.

  • RO1 chair was planned for eventual recycling by using materials and components that can be easily separated and reprocessed at the end of its life cycle. RO1 chair is proximally 80% recycled aluminum, 19 % solid wood, and 1% stainless steel, used for bolt connections.

  • RO1 chair was conceived to use the fewest materials possible: Stainless Steel, Aluminum, and Solid Wood.

Bolt connectors are made of stainless steel for durability and corrosion-free.

Aluminum is chosen primarily due to its durability, lightweight properties, corrosion resistance, and infinite recyclability.

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we are currently transitioning to manufacturing the RO1 chair with fully recycled Aluminum.

We are dedicated to responsible sourcing. Therefore, we are selecting vendors with raw material certifications such as DIN EN 13920, ISO 14001, ASI, and DIN EN 13920 or similar, ensuring the highest quality and ethical standards.

We prioritize wood with certifications like the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), ensuring it comes from sustainably managed forests that protect biodiversity and local communities. Depending on the availability of wood used, it can vary from certified wood to the specific type.

  • RO1 chair is crafted to allow easy replacement of parts or components, promoting repair over disposal.

RO1 chair components are 12 Stainless Steel bolt connectors | 2 Aluminium Wings | 2 Aluminium feet | 4 Aluminium Landing Gears | 2 Aluminium Stabilizers | 2 Aluminium Round Bars | and 1 Aluminium rectangular bar | 4 wooden plates.

The chair components were designed to be only tightened together; as part of the “reduced" design principles, we avoided welding or glue.

  • The Ro1 chair is handcrafted and finished with natural plant oil wax products.

  • Please choose from our cushions in smooth Leather, textured Denim Selvage, or modern Kvadrat fabrics. Each offers unique comfort for every style.

We use sustainable foam materials such as Natural Latex foam with OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, CertiPUR-US, and Blue Angel (Blauer Engel) Certified, Germany's environmental certification, which signifies that products are eco-friendly, use recycled materials, and meet high sustainability standards.

  • The RO1 chair is designed for long-term viability. It uses aluminum to create a product built to last and crafted to minimize ecological impact through regenerative design. Aluminum accepts an infinite recycling process.

Using suitable material is only one part of the equation. The design and engineering have been driven to simplify each process layer, design, operations, manufacture, and assembly to the maximum.

Our engineering strategy used only two manufacturing processes, such as water jet cutting and milling, from raw aluminum to the final RO1 chair.

We commit to simple standards to contribute to sustainability and local development. Our supply chain is within a 180 km radius of our facilities in Herzogenaurach, maximizing a resource efficiency model in each development.

We frequently check our progress in sustainable design to enhance environmental protection and design quality.

  • We aim for a minimum and slow-cooked process to enhance a regenerative design.

All projects are conceived on the classic drawing board; nothing starts electronically.

Concepts are drawn on a scale of 1:1 for an accurate feel. We use pencils, rulers, a compass, and lots of erasers. Once the designs are finished, we translate them into 3D for manufacturing.

If a design requires an additional manufacturing process to "look different,” we return to the drawing board and redefine the concept to keep it as simple as possible.

Simplicity and resourcefulness are essential to our goal of creating long-lasting products that prioritize functionality and sustainability.
